We rehearse these families of questions until recognition becomes automatic, because speed on the easy and medium questions is what buys time for the hard ones.

Disarm the Traps

Test writers plant predictable wrong answers: the value you'd get if you solved for x when the question wanted x plus two, the positive root when both roots matter, the answer in the wrong units. These traps are designed to feel correct. I teach your teen to see them coming — to notice exactly what the question asked for and to check their answer against it before moving on. Avoiding planted traps recovers points that content review alone never would.
